Paging Mikey

Mikey:

Do you do your own fittings and installations triggers? Can you tell me what's involved? I want to replace a couple of 1911 triggers with long models and was surprised to learn that they require fitting. I then got so mad that I ordered the American Gunsmithing Institute volume 1 for building competition 1911s. Maybe that will answer some questions for me.

Questor - yes I do.  I have found the Chip McCormick trigger group parts require the least amount of fitting (actually, just beveling the edges on the trigger bar for smoother travel and filing/grinding off a bit of the plastic off the top/bottom of those triggers get them fitted nicely.  They also carry a trigger adjustment screw and have worked very well for me.  One other aspect of the plastic triggers by McCormick that I like is the ease of which I can contour the face of the trigger to my particular tastes.  All in all I feel the Chip McCormick trigger, or hammer and trigger groups parts are pretty inexpensive and pretty easy to work with.  HTH.  Mikey.
