rpk clones
« on: November 18, 2006, 07:05:41 PM »
The better halve, asked last week ,what i wanted for christmas this year, she should know by now to just ask what gun i want ,but oh-well, so since like many others i'm thinking it won't be long b4 bans start,i should get something i may not be able to get next year, and since i already have a m1a,m1carb,and a ar15,i should go forgien this year, i have had a akm-norinco in the past but was underwhelmed by its lack of accuracy.but i have been thinking of getting a rpk/semi it seems to me with the longer heavier barrel it should be a better shooter than a ak,i've seen a norinco verison at a gun show for 500bucks 2nd hand and probaly would of brought it if the seller would of moved on the price or thrown in more than 1mag. but i have seen a rumianian version in a recent shotgun news for 400,although i couldn't tell by the picture it looked like a ak action, apparently the the real rpk actions were buildt beefier,so i wonder if thats why the good price.so my questions are does anyone have any experince with these wpns, are they more accurate than a ak,are there any brands that are better than others, what would be a good deal on one, mind you i'm not looking for match gun accuracy maybey 2-4moa,thanks for any advice.-tt

Dont think that the RPK is going to be an accurate shooter just because its got a thicker barrel and is longer.. First of all the Yugo RPK's ,99% of them have poor or shot out barrels..
the Romanian ones are in better shape..(In talking about kit guns )...
The New Ronamian that Centuary Arms sells is nothing more than a Wasr 10 with a longer barrel
on them, cant even call it a RPK Clone ..

If you want to build a enexpensive clone.. start with a Norinco or Maddi
Here is my Maddi..

Now if money is no object... there is also the Valmet RPK M-78
Top of the line,,milled reciever, solid as a tank, accurate.. but no cheap if you can find one..
$2500+
