What is a good cast bullet for a .32/40?
« on: November 01, 2006, 05:35:45 PM »
I have a rebarrelled Remington Rolling Block, already chambered, and I have some .30/30 brass to blow out to .32/40-but I have not bought a bullet mould.
So I am asking, what is the best cast bullet in this caliber in YOUR experience?
I know there will be some different opinions, and that is great,I just want an ideal of good bullets for accuracy.
 Thanks,
 Jeff. ???

You don't need to "blow them out", just run them through a regular sizing die.  They'll be a bit shorter than real .32-40's but a LOT cheaper.  Get a lot of the same headstamp to start with.

Moulds?  My best mould was an old 165 Lyman/Ideal.  I have the 200 gr. HOCH nose-pour as well, but a bit long unless you have a fast twist.  It was made for target shooting @ 40 rods.  Have a look at NEI's #93A .323-180-PB

Flintman;  I was reviewing the RCBS & Lyman moulds online.  They show some promising moulds that your local shop could get you.  RCBS is great at customer service, and they've even put their mould-guy on the phone to discuss stuff with me directly.
