1st deer

I got to spend the day with my ten year old son on his first hunt. What a day. He watched a 180 class buck tend a doe and make two other groups of hunters look like the hunted not the hunters. All though I would not let him take a 150yd shot on the hudge buck he got a 30 yd shot at a 125" 10 point. The deer droped about 30 yds from were he shot it. I could not be prouder. The Encore, Shock Wave and my Son all were perfect. I wished I had a digital to post. His grin says it all.    ;D ;D ;D

Great hunting story!
You have a lucky son, for his dad to take him hunting, and to teach him to be a good shot, and to only take ethical shots.

Thanks all. I like this site for several reasons. I enjoy the free product reviews and advise we share. But I see so many posts suporting each others mile stones. That is far too uncomon this day and age. I think it is great that members take the time to post a line or two.  :o

 Seth is still excited & hopes the big buck will survive for another year. Unfortunatly his father learned more than how well his son was listening back in September when we were spending time shooting and learning some of the details not covered in hunter education at the range. His father knows the big bucks escape route and still has his tag. I love the guy but !!!!

Congratulations to the both of you. Maybe the big one will be your reward for taking the time to teach your son the right things. :) Besides you wouldn't want to spoil him on such a big buck that early in life, wouldn't have anything to look forward too, now would he? ;D Good luck!

Busta,

You may be right. Ohio has some nice deer and Seth and I are lucky enough to be in one of the better areas of the state. But 180 to 200" inch deer do not fall off the trees. I have just found out the county wildlife officer has been watching this buck for some time. A 10 year old would not have much to look forward TO after harvesting one of this caliber.
