I tried some Cleanshot powder in my .54 Cal. Hawken today with some round balls.Shot as good as RS and Black.I'll never go back to the smell and mess of the other powders.Clean-up was a snap.

A few posters on other forums tested clear shot, pyro and 777 with the same load, bullet and rifle.  The slowest bullet speed/energy was with clear -- the next higher was pyro and 777 was highest. If you're shootin' between 50-75 yards, you should do fine. If it's 75-150 yards, your clear shot will not match pyro or 777 in energy & speed.

As long as you're happy -- that's all that matters.

Side-bar on the 777 powder

HI PJ- Ijust shot at the Grand Valley ML 3 day shoot this last weekend. I used 777 2fpowder for the woods walk in my .54 T/C Renegade. After about 12 shots ,wet patch with cleaner/lube and dry patch with cap snap to blow out the crud every 5 shots, I STILL had delayed or hang fires  Using 2f Goex and the same cleanin steps Idon't have this frustration. 777 is pretty expensive to be giving the unsure performance I've experienced. Oh yeah, I use a Knight red stainless nipple to help ignition using standard CCI caps incase you're wondering. Hope you have better luck  :D

Gave two lbs of Clean Shot to my buddy this weekend...

I was given several pounds of clean shot to try in my smokepoles. I had a buddy with a gun shop that wanted to help sponsor me and me shoot the Clean Shot . NOT. It won't burn in any of my flinters. Sounds like a roman candle going off. It did shoot okay in my inline pistols but was still slow in my opinion. Nothing but 3F Goex for me. I don't mind cleaning if I know it's going off and hitting where I point it. I gave the stuff to my buddy that was shooting Pyrodex and he really likes it. I'm sure it has it's good qualities for percussion guns.
