AMT Automag II disassembly
« on: October 28, 2003, 09:46:58 AM »
Hi All,
I have had one of these in my safe since I can remember and haven't shot it in a long time. So I decided to do so. Now, what I need is if there is anyone out there that remembers how to take this thing apart for cleaning, or if there is a site somewhere. Plaese give me a hint. I did a search on the net and there isn't a site that I could find.
Please help.
Thanks.

If you are referring to the .22 mag, I may be able to help out.  I have an owner's manual that came with my pistol.  I can check it out tomorrow as I don't remember if it had takedown instructions...seems as it did.
They are pretty straight forward as I recall but I haven't done it in a while.

Is this the pistol that is a clone to the Ruger Mark II?

Actually its more like a 1911.  Top slide...not internal bolt like the Mark II.
Break down is somewhat similar as well, but internals differ quite a bit.

Yep, that's the one. I got it apart though since I posted this.  The slide has to be locked to the open position with the slide release. Then the release is "not so easily" pushed out to the left. It comes apart from there.

Thanks.

This is the gun that one of the other posters must have thought was the same as the Ruger MK II, as it has about the same look.
