New to me Encore
« on: November 28, 2006, 11:35:41 AM »
i just bought a Encore 7mag with the heavy barrel that has been shot less than 10 times for a song... it has the walnut stock. What factory bullet weight should I start with for the best groups out of this gun? I don't reload so I'm limited to factory ammo,,, i would like to shoot a Nosler Partition bullet... also should I go ahead and place the small washers between my forearm and barrel or see how it shoots first? Let me ask this and I'll leave you alone, I've been thinking of switching to a synthetic stock and forearm anyone see any shooting advantage in doing this? Peace  ;D

Ok, nobody had any ideas  ??? I think I answered my own questions today... I mounted the Leupold 3x9x50 that came with the gun on Warne Maxima bases and rings and went to the range with a box of 175 grain Core-Lokts. I shot three rounds at 50 yards to get the scope close,,, dropped back to 100 yards and hit a quarter sized black dot drew on a paper plate... I'm done, never seen a hog or deer that small  ;) I'll shoot some groups with the gun after deer season but just from the way the bullets were adjusting with the scope I think the gun will shoot tight. Peace !

I did not answer because I don't have a 7mm Mag barrel for my Encore. But it sounds like you found what you needed.
