Does anybody but me think these are the cutting edge of Traditional muzzleloadin' tech? They have shotgun style butt plates rather than that silly "cresent" thingy. The barrels are generally aroung 28" or so, and they have patent breeches that really work, and usable sights. The only production examples I can find are made by Petersoli, and even theirs ain't exact replicas, usually havin' too much barrel length. Kentucky rifles are actually made for shootin' from behind a tree, whilst standin' on yore hind legs. And the examples of Plains rifles don't much look like their namesake Hawkens.

Today’s Hawkens don’t look like real Hawkens  either. Nor do they look like the  plains rifles  much  when you get right down to it .
  Nor were IMO the hawkens  as numerous as we see today .  Infect with the brothers production numbers of  less then 300 a years  when compared to those of hennery and leman  their plains style rifles were probably quite few  considering

 The sporting rifles go way back  if I recall mid to early 18th century .
  So do rear sights on smooth bores and trade guns yet  there always seems to be controversy of them
