Got my otter!
« on: November 24, 2006, 02:54:41 PM »
Today I went out to check and pull my water sets. Thursday high temps are predicted to be in the 20's here. This area I have to use a boat, and rowing through ice sucks. When I got to my last otter set, a 330 set in a narrow area between the cattails. I noticed that it was sprung. No big deal I thought because every time I checked it the trap was sprung. Muskrat I thought, But to my surprise I had caught my first otter. Now I can switch my focus to yotes and fox.

congratulations Fourcoil, now the  work begins, unless you have done otters before.  Make sure you keep tail short and pleated dont stretch long and narrow. Also on tail cut x's in tail fat and tail will lay down flatter and fat will flesh off easier with knife or fleshing knife.
