gas cutting top strap

Is a little bit of gas cutting on the top strap of a .357 Blackhawk anything to worry about?  It's right above the cylinder-cone gap.  It's not noticeable at all until the gun was thoroughly cleaned.

No.
It is inevitable. Any revolver will develop a little gas cutting. Then it stops. Only a couple of high pressure/hard core calibers will continue cutting much beyond the light, superficial cut.

I thought of just watching it too see if it arrests.  Sounds like good news to me.

Gas cutting is increased by shooting light bullets with slow powder charges, as the bullet clears the cylinder gap before the fire goes out....  Shoot heavier bullets with slower powders to decrease the cutting, and shoot light bullets with faster powder.

Ok fellows, what do you think of a steady diet of: 19gr H110 and hard cast 250gr SWC's???

I've got that mold in a Lee six cavity and a good stock of this powder.
Along with a couple ton of hard lead.  Believe I really like this bullet.

Am just getting started with the .45 Colt games.  Am having a hell of a time getting brass.
Hate to spend what it costs for new brass by the thousands and that's how I like to load
ammo up.  Load it whenever I can. Then when the weather and I can make it out will have
lot's of it to shoot.

So far, I've only been able to come up with about 200 cases. That's not near enough the way I
burn them up. Only lasts about an hour.
