I have some '72 Open Tops by Uberti/Cimarron. They have held up well, and are often my main match guns in 44. Many shooters have the Cimarron "conversions" and they also hold up well. They are, as Uberti makes them, almost the same as the Open Top, and share most parts except the conversion backplate and sometimes the barrel.
They are significantly stronger than the original Colt design, even without regard to the better modern steel, as the cylinder is larger with thicker walls.
