Ham fists and the Contender
« on: April 19, 2003, 08:11:14 AM »
Guys,

After working with the Encores for a while, I am convinced they are set up far better for a fellow with big hands. My hands are bigger than most, which brings me to  my question. I have been using Pachmayr finger groove "gripper" grips on my various Contenders.

Is there a better choice for the fellow with big hands? The regular Pachmayr straight grip maybe? The T/C factory synthetic grips? What do you big handed guys prefer? I have used nothing but the grippers in so long, I sort of forget how the other styles feel. The Encore synthtic factory grip has sort of spoiled me for the Contenders.  :(

Ley me know your thoughts?

Hello HHI #4694,

I have and use both Pachy Grippers and Presentation grips on Contenders.  There is far more room for big hands on the Presentation grips since there are no finger grooves that basically force your fingers to go to a certain place on the grip.  The Presentation grips are also longer.  I hope this information is helpful.

Good and safe shooting to you.

Javelina
If I had a dollar for every time I wanted another Contender or Encore, I'd have about $855,627,452,918

Thanks Javelina. I will have to give the regular presentation grips a try again to see if they are more comfortable.
