.223 case length

I bought some brass that had been polished, sized and trimmed. since I like uniformity I trim all my cases to 1.760 like .223 is supposed to be. I checked these cases and they are all trimmed at 1.720 I think that is the length for .222
  Will having the cases trimmed that short hurt anything? I wasted some lead and mock loaded some. the bullet seats fine. but no factory crimp. Would I just have a lower case pressure or should this brass be scraped?

Trim size for the .223 is 1.750" .... you listed the max case size.

I am reloading .223 today for my Savage 10FP and my Handi rifle. I just went through in my case preparation process and never found one case less than  1.748". I personally would not use it but others might think differently. I measured almost 200 new and once fired cases.

Depends on what you want to do with them. If just for plinking, I would use them but not go anywhere near max loads. You can also seat the bullet out further to give yourself the same case capacity.

Trim to length on 223 is 1.740, so they are definitely too short, but as long as your loads are moderate it shouldn't be any big deal.

Just curious where you get the 1.740" trim to length size for a .223 Remington. My manuals say 1.750" and so does the the websites on reloading I use for specific measurements such as the site below ...
