Caliber for Africa?
« on: December 22, 2006, 02:10:33 AM »
Okay, here's the deal...
I'm booked for bowhunting Africa for plains game this summer.  I want to take my contender G2 for a "Backup"  - as in if I can't get close enough for the bow, last day scenario, etc.  I have a 7-30 waters barrel, which I love, but am not sure about performance on something the size of say a zebra. Nothing will be shot at much over 75 yards. Realistic animals include Gemsbok, Kudu, and the zebra mentioned.
I don't really want to buy a new barrel for a "maybe" scenario, if I load heavy bullets in the waters will it do the job?

A buddy of mine has used the 375 and 6.5 JDJ's with great success.

I would also recommend 375 JDJ.
