I own a Dec 1946 510, single shot 'TargetMaster'.
and a Sept 1946 511 'ScoreMaster', (clip fed version of 510.)
(Both a little younger than I am !)
They have no scope rails, and just the standard open sights fitted.
Triggers are as issued, but still good and crisp.
Both have been refurbished, to a lesser or greater extent at some stage of their life.
Who knows their history, how they found their way this far from home, how many owners they've given pleasure to, or how many pests and varmints have been despatched in their lifetimes.
I find with my deteriorating eyesight that it is a struggle to line-up rear and fore sights, and the target, without there being a measure of blur, and consequently, I tend to string the shots a bit.
My best targets to date have been with Australian made Winchester Power Point HVHP's, but I managed a couple good'uns this week with some Peters HVHP as well.
Have a look at what they do at 25mtrs off the bench.
I line-up top of fore parallel and centered with top of rear, with the red target roundel (8 ring) sitting in full view, just above the top of rear.
(The second target was done while adjusting the sights.)
The 510 hits centre on the rear sight's first adjustment notch, the 511, the third notch.
