Well, since I didn't have anything else to spend $$ on I decided to get a Sheriff's model base pin in the 5 1/2 RV's. This modification allows you to totally remove the base pin--the stock one is too long to do this.
They arrived today and I followed the directions (for a change :grin: ).
The stock pins are .247 and the new one are .249. I took off enough to get them to fit--much tighter fit but figure that's a good thing (sorry Martha).
There may be a better way to do it but emery cloth and 220, 320 and 600 wet/dry sandpaper and about an hour each. Was worried at first I would take them down to much--then was worried I would never get them to fit!
We'll see how it goes next week-end.
p.s. Brownells has them for $3 less over Midway.

I suppose you are talking about Base Mountain pins there. I use them in my RVs, never had to take anything off of them, but had a lot of mileage on the RVs when I installed them. I was able to lop off about an inch off the ejector spring and that was nice. The only tip I can give you is twist the pins and make sure they lock up. They use a lot smaller notch. You are good to go. :-)

Bought Belt Mountain base pins for my AWA's. It's close to fitting in the cylinder bushing, but no way will it fit into the frame. By the time I get it dressed down for the frame, I might just a well leave the stock pin in - so I have. Lays in the parts bin now. Wish I had a nickel back for each dollar I have spent on parts and pieces that I will probably never use! Oh well, it is reasurring to know I have every part (except a frame) that I would ever need to fix a Colt or clone. Good shooting Guys. 44 Man

44 man. Put them on the classified on this board or on the Frontier Spot and see if someone else needs them. They are great for tightening up a worn gun, which is why I installed them in mine. I never had pin jump, but I had cylinder play and the Belt mtn, pins did the trick for me. :-) Don't just eat them, someone may need them. :-)
