I am new to shotshell reloading, but I picked up a Texan from Sovern Industries. Its a 12 ga. progressive loader. The price was right, free.
 It looked as if it was just sitting for years, no telling how old this thing is, but I took it all apart cleaned and oiled it up, now it works great.
My question is, does anyone know much about this company?(good, bad, how long ago were they in business)
Is there any chance of finding bushings or other parts for this thing?

I had a couple of the Texans, early 1970's. Good machines, but I doubt that you will find parts for it any more. You got a good press if nothing is worn out.

I think that they used the same charge bar as MEC. I'm sure their single-stage press did, can't remember if my progressive did or not.

Hay Flinch, there's a feller named "skeetx" that has a bunch of Texan bushings and sells 'em for four dollars.  Do a search, should find him.

fjd, if you have the big honking 8-stage shovel handled progressive Texan, I can send you a copy of the manual if you give me a place to mail it.

SI used to make calculators and such.Mec bar works fine on s/s presses. I think they are still in the instrment bussiness, they were quite inovative back in the day.if you get jammed up on bushings I have some and and i can make them on my lathe for you if youl tell me what charge, powder or shot you need.Just pay shipping, im retired and glad to help you out, Oh ya PW bushings fit the s/s presses too.mastershooter357@aol.com

Back in the 70's two of us started out on Texan shotshell presses.  The presses are long gone, but I am still using my Texan powder scale quite regularly.  I also have a Texan 3 position press, which I have always used for 38's.  Well, that is until I got my Dillon.

A piece of round aluminum bar stock,a lathe and an assortment of drills and you can make your own bushings.24" of aluminum cost me $2.00 Can and I can make about 20 bushings out of it.That's about 10 cents a piece and a bit of my time.
The single stage units will accept MEC single stage bars but I also am not sure about the progressive units compatability.
