Marlin 1895 - Full Length Mag Tube on 22" Rifle???
« on: December 18, 2006, 06:28:59 AM »
I've been hovering over a used (Like New!!) Marlin 1895 at a local gun shop.  The rifle feels very natural to shoulder and point.  Of course, if I pick it up, I'd like to make a couple changes.  The major change is a full length mag tube that stops just shy of the barrel muzzle....more or less like a 336 or 1895CB.  Looking for recommendations/comments of this type of change/modification.  Talked with my gunsmith.  Although he hasn't made such a mod before, thought it could be done by shortening a 1895CB mag tube.  I'm not as concerned about adding a round or two, as I am about adding a little more weight to the muzzle.  Though about devising a weight that matches the profile of the mag tube, but want to make it look "factory".  Any suggestions??

I think it would look better, function better and be stronger to just cut down the parts from a cb rifle. It shouldnt be hard if your smith is any good.
