7.62x39 first kill
« on: November 26, 2006, 05:03:41 PM »
My 13 year old nephew used my handi 7.62x39 this week deer hunting here in oklahoma. He shot at 3 and missed 3. So tonight i set him at the corn feeder at 5:00pm he pulled the hammer back and CLICK nothing happend! The little 120 pound 5 point buck at 60 yards never looked up. So he loaded another and BOOM!!! poor little buck never took another step, he bled all over my fresh corn ;D Man if it wasnt the most accurate gun i have id send it back.

Is the 7.62x39 the .308 bullet or the .311 bullet?

Congratulations to your nephew, and for those of you that reload this caliber lik2hunt has some cast gas-checked .311 spire point bullets for sale in the classifieds right now. I have an aversion to the metric designated calibers and cannot see the draw to them but to each his own, after all I really prefer single shot Handi's and some friends just think they are cheap. Boy, I really enjoy outshooting them and thier expensive guns at the range with my H&R/NEF's!!!! ...<><.... :)

Thanks guys!! I enjoy shooting cirlces around them too with my "CHEAP" rifles. Around our shop we talk guns alot. There are 3 guys that think they are junk because of the price and that they are only a single shot. Neither one of them would bat an eye at purchasing a Ruger#1. Some guys are funny about that othesr like alot of us here on that board have LOGIC and more so common sense...Some people will never learn :)
