Beretta 390
« on: December 05, 2006, 06:14:39 PM »
A friend of mine is having trouble with his Beretta 390.  Seems when it gets cold it does not feed.  Ejects fine.  He said if you manually push the bolt forward the shell will feed.  I am not a shotgun guy so I thought I would throw it out to the experts.

It's really hard to even guess the problem with the limited info. Is the shell in the chamber but the bolt not fully closed? Is the round on the carrier and the push raises and loads it? Is it not fully seated in the chamber but still in the chamber so that pushing the bolt closes the bolt to it's in battery state. Does it do this when its fired or just when its being manually loaded? I suggest a thorough cleaning and lubrication(not excessive) and check the chamber for rust. It's surprising how many feeding problems stem from rusted chambers.. not the bores but the chamber!

Thank you.  I know the info was limited but, it was all I had.  The way I visualized it was that the bolt did not push the next shell up and in.  I don't believe he cleaned it too well prior to firing.  He said it worked fine when he started the day and as the temps dropped the problem started and only become worse.
