Day pack

Because of current circumstances, I've had
to use a pack to ferry groceries back and forth.
My well used ALICE  pack is finally showing wear
and could probably last the rest of my life with
some new straps and a liberal coat of foo foo.
I've used a Condor daypack I had for carrying
items from the distant employee parking at
one job, and it does better than I expected
at hauling a load of rations. Usually 14-15
pounds worth. Today was not quite 20 pounds.
I'm just afraid that the straps will give way at
an inopportune time.
Hey Teamnelson  ! !  At one point, you had
posted about some assault packs you'd
bought online,  then a 5.11 pack.
How has those units held up  ?
I figure you probably actually haul a backpack
as much as anyone here

Found a mint Alice pack at a yard sale for $20. Couldn’t believe what they go for online. You could probably get just the pack and use your frame for around $75. Teamnelson is only hauling bibles and hymn books now watch out for chinese knock offs. If you do a search you can find straps or mods for these reasonably.

Mine was used when I took possession
of it,  and it's had some hard use since
I've had it
Even then, it's held up really well.
All the stitching is still good and the
flap straps and cinch straps are still
good. The old original shoulder straps
are full of dirt and sweat and getting
kinda brittle and stiff.
Even then, it's the pack I'd trust the most.
I have a couple of different Maxpedition
and Condor packs of different configurations,
but being imports I don't know how
much I can trust the shoulder straps
to not fail at an inopportune time and
place. That would suck in the worst way

No sir, the ALICE  won't be leaving here
on my orders. I'm not sure I could tear
it up without trying really hard

Haven't been in one myself in a while
The closest one built a new building
and moved a couple of years ago, and
severely cut back on hunting and fishing
and camping gear just like I suspected
they would. The old store used to have
a large selection, but the newer one is
all about urban hoodrat merchandise.

I remember the old store even had a
5.11 section with several models of
their backpacks along with the usual
range of items in the hunting and
camping departments

Looked at a few
Good heavy fabric, but the shoulder
straps are attached kinda mediocre
Too many pockets on most  of the ones
I've looked at
One had 25 pockets ! !

Next time I'm in academy sports I'm gonna pick up a day pack for my pickup.

Probably be a good time to go shopping.
IIRC tax free weekend includes backpacks
in addition to school clothes and shoes
and supplies etc.
and it's this weekend
