Just a simple post from a simple man
« on: November 16, 2006, 06:27:13 AM »
Hi All

Dont know how this is going to go.  And right off the bat I want to say that I mean no disrespect.

For personal reasons I do not support this war we are in but what I am going to say is about the troops and not the war itself.

I think that anyone that is willing to standup and defend this country as part of its military warrior class should be respected.  These men and women put their own lives on hold and put the wants of this country before their own.  Many times I see people on the news with limbs blown off and going through therapy to become part of society again.  These people definately have brave hearts and a sense of honor.

To these people I give my respect.

Brother this is what we need to see here !!!
I do not support all aspects of the 2 wars we are in right now either !!
But The troops didn't start it ! You can surely support the men and women
without supporting the entire cause. (or any of the cause for that matter)
Thanks for your Input !

Well Said, nicely put!

Most people don't like wars and such, and many people therefore say they don't support the war!

However the majority will say that they support the troops!
---------------------

Things have changed over the years!
I was in during the Viet Nam war and we never even got a "welcome home" except from family and close friends!
People are now realizing that the troops don't have much choice other than to follow orders!
The troops will then try to do the best job possible in service to our country!

ChucK:  Glad you made it back brother. I was over there in 70, 71, and a little in 72. Started in Phuc Vinh, moved to Cambodia, back over to  Phuc Bin, Back to Cambodia, Tay Ninh, this way and that.

I just want to see our brothers in arms treated better than we were.

Thanks Dave, and thanks to everyone who supports the troops, regardless of how they view politics! That's what this is about!

Dave, I was actually in Thailand (Nakhon Phanom RTAFB) up on the MeKong River across from Laos!
I worked on A-26 Invaders and A-1 Sky Raiders!
The A-26's made runs on the Ho Chi Minh trail and the A-1's flew support missions if we had a down pilot or troops that were pinned down!
The way I see it, we all had a job, and we did it well!

Hey Chuck, Do you by any chance remember a fella by the name of O.E.Taylor
(Orville). He was on the same base as you for a year or so. I was never there so I do not know
how big that base was. Small base you might have known him. I think he was an Air traffic Control
officer but not sure of rank then.

No, I didn't know O.E.Taylor!

Wasn't a really big base, but there were a lot of people there and of course working at a different job limited the chances of meeting very many of the other GI's!

This is strange, But I knew An Orville E. Taylor. We used to work with a government contractor.
Did the one you are referring to Bring a Thai wife home with him ? Drive a Studebaker And alway say something like "NO F WORDS ON THIS SITE. Graybeard" .... When you asked him something. He was a FAC (forward air controller) for Navy pilots, Not an Air traffic controller. I do not think he is with us any longer. I have to ask, Where did you know him from?

And Yes! He married a Beautiful Thai Lady ! Can't pronounce her name but I think every one called her SUE !

One in the same Guy I Guess !  I will PM you How I know him.

I did not type the F word ?
I guess the insinuation of it was enough to trigger a firewall or something?
I did not mean to offend.
