Ejector Problems
« on: December 10, 2006, 05:00:39 AM »
I have been having some problems with my handi rifle ejecting a spent casing. Someone told me it might be the ejector being worn out but it seems to eject live rounds quite fine. The problem only happens with fired casings and usually after the 2nd or third fired round. I end up having to tap the casing out with a cleaning rod... i really like my handi rifle but having to use a ramrod all the time is annoying. Any one else had this problem or have any advice?

Thanks.

Welcome to Graybeard Outdoors!! Please read the "Chamber Polishing" link in the FAQs and Help sticky, that should help you solve your problem. Take a look around at the other info there while you're readin, there's lots of stuff there for you to learn about your Handi! ;)

I had the same problem when i got one of my handi's , a good chamber polishing will do wonders for it. The best way i have found to do this is with a spent round .

1 de-prime the case then screw in a small hex head sheet metal screv in the flast hole .

2 put a small amount of metal polish on the case .

3 use a batt. drill to turn the case slowly in the chamber , removing the case to wipe out the chamber and repeat as needed .

This should cure the sticking problem , also make sure the chamber is free of oil or other moisture when shooting .

Had the same problem with my 243 handi, not even close to max load.  I agree with chamber polish, but, also I found the ejecter needed some extensive cleaning to remove all the shipping grease.
