25-06 Prohunter Kill Report
« on: December 06, 2006, 03:57:07 PM »
Finnally got the chance to try out new 25-06 Pro Hunter on some hinds. Shooting the Fac. Fed 117 Speer Hot Cores I took four WT's last week. First two were with one shot. Double lunged the first and spine shot the second. Bullet passed thru both. About 110 yrds.
Third deer was about 65 yrds . Lights out with double lung shot.
Forth deer was about 165 yrds. Double lung shot. Deer ran about 35-40 yrds, but had a blood trail  even RH 1 could follow. JK RH

What took me soooo long to get a 25-06 I will never know. GREAT ROUND FOR EASTERN WT.   DM

ps- did get to take 2 more deer at around 300 yards with 270wsm (Ruger M77)

Congrats!

The more you use it the more you will like it.  ;)

Out much further is not an issue either with the right loads/bullets!

Way to go, sounds like you had a great time.

But I don't get your " had a blood trail  even RH 1 could follow." comment????

Nomo, right now i'm  shooting the 117 hot cores. I would feel real good out to 300 yrds or so. Sighted in 1.5 high at 100 puts me zero at 2 and -5 at 3. This is first go with hot core bullets and have to say very pleased.

RH, just messing with ya man, no hidden meaning, however the blood trail was very heavy pumping out both sides.

After going back in thought on the double, I said that the bullet passed  thru both deer. Where this IS correct, I did find just the jacket on the off side hide  of the second deer. The core passed thru without the jacket.

DM

ps- RH1, you still puzzled ?
