New Land!
« on: December 14, 2006, 05:18:15 PM »
;D I just bought 40 acres in Clark county. My Dad bought the adjoining 60.  This is the first piece of property I've ever actually owned and man is it exciting! We are boredered by county land on the north and south side so we have tons of land to hunt /explore. We actually closed last Friday. I took a walk around on it Sunday with my daughters. we saw 5 grouse, 1` doe, our first snowshoe hare ( poor fella really stood out without snow on the ground).  We also ran across a guy deer hunting- I guess he thought that just because its Manged Forest Law land that he could still hunt there (Its been closed since 2001). I wasn't mad or mean I just explained that I would be posting it next year, but wished him luck for the rest of the afternoon. I'm sure there  will be alot of that for a while. Too bad I live 3 hours away, but its so exciting having my own small slice of heaven! :)

If you sign up your new property to the Manage forest land.  You can get in the program where it is closed to public hunting.  That fellow you ran into probably knew it was closed to hunting.  Alot of hunters when they look in the plat book and see mange forest land presume it is open to hunting.  I have all my land in the Forest Management program and pay a little more to keep it closed to public hunting. Good luck with your new property.
