Weaver scopes?
« on: January 15, 2008, 11:06:37 PM »
Anybody have any experience with Weaver scopes? I am going to put a scope on my super redhawk .454 and I need a scope that will take the pounding of these handguns. I found them for 200.00 which is about my price range. I know there are some cheaper scopes out there but I hate to buy a cheaper scope only to have it fall apart due to recoil.

I have used a weaver 2 power off and on  a 44 mag (desert eagle), 22 long rifle (ruger), 454 (encore) and have had ZERO problems with it. Its clear with repeatable adjustments and never lost zero. Optics are as bright as my burris scopes.

It should work fine for you.

Natchez shooters supply has the Weaver 2x28 on sale for a hundred bucks NOW!

Used Leupold 2x pistol scopes go for about $130. on E-gay.  Lifetime warranty!
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Weaver scopes on shotguns and MLoaders

I can't help you on Weaver pistol scopes but I can tell you about Weaver K series scopes on heavy recoil longarms. I have several K 2.5, K 3, and K 4 scopes on heavy recoil shotguns and muzzleloader rifles. They have held zero well over the years and this year as in the past brought home the venison. I would buy one for a handgun in a second.

I just put one on my Raging Bull .41 mag so far I love it. Best eye relief of any I tried. I got the 2x. I've put down 2 does and a hog and about 200 rounds through it since Christmas I don't think you'll be disappointed. ;D

A 454 is one heck of a gun and will pound to death most ordinary scopes.

You would be better off to just save your money and wait and buy a good one when your finances are right.

My dad also has a Weaver Scope on one of his pistols and he has had no problems - but it is a .357 and they might only have 1/2 the recoil of the 454!

Its a good scope. Also look at Bushnell Elite pistol scopes. I like them more especially with the firefly.

I have 2 Weaver scopes  and one is a 2x on a .480 Ruger. No problems at all with the scope holding a zero with the thump of a 480 for a few years now. I posted a pic. of it and my other Weaver scoped gun on the other handgun forum. Here is a link to it.

spending big money on a scope doesnt allways mean your getting a ton more quality. I have one bushnell banner handgun scope. Its a 1.5x4.5 and id put it up against any handgun scope for lens quality. How it willl hold up i dont know but its on a .50 inline muzzleloading pistol and there isnt much else that going to tax it harder and its held up to well over 500 rounds so far. Same goes for rifle scopes. Im a leupold fan and have quite a few of them but just picked up that weaver 1x3 and putting it and my varixIII 1.5x5 both of 3x the weaver picks up light just as good as the leupold. There are some sleaper deals on optics right now if you can get over brand snob. Weaver, bushnell and mueller all make a real good low priced scope.

No Weaver handgun scopes, but have 2 K6's that are among my best and clearest rifle scopes.

Love the weaver handgun scopes. I had a 2.5x7 on a 7x30 waters and was excellent. I also have several on the long guns. Great deal for the money.
