with my 1911 I can shoot fairly quickly through a mag and keep it about 3" at 25yards free handed
for a hunting gun I expect 2" at 25 yards free handed
my new 657 7.5" 41 keyholes them at 25 yards off a bench and about 1.5 at 50 (with winchster 240g platinum tips_
I ran through two boxes at 25 yards free handed and there was a big chewed up hole about 1.5" and shots around that, total was about 2.5" not bad for a new gun...
I read this with interest because I have just started handgun hunting, done lots and lots of semi auto "work", lots of lead at the range, some IPSC and IDPA stuff... but new to handgun hunting
I know I want to be able to take 50-60 yard shots freehanded with iron sights
I got my first deer yesterday morning, 46 long steps out, through both shoulders
I wanted to be behind the front shoulder, but dead is dead I guess..
I just want to be a better shot
