Last year the shot killed instant, right through the top of the shoulder neck junction. Bullet lodged just under the hide behind the left front leg in the chest. Deer did a flip into the creek . Was shot from about 90 to 95 yds away , With my Ruger 77 30-06. Tree stand is almost 40 feet up and with the slope it is probably 65 t0 70 feet higher than the creek bank. Deer are just not as much fun to shoot , to much work, don't have to carry GH out of the field.
Besides if it don't have bones on it's head I don't shoot it. That's just the way I am. And I am to old to change now. Back in the 70's I was young and couldn't wait to go , now it is still something I do every year . But it is just not the same I can't explaine it except it's my nickle I spend it as I choose.
