.243 ultra varmint loads ?

I bought a H&R .243 a month ago for my wife to use on deer and I thought It might be a good varmint gun. I stated out buy some 100gr core loc to season the barrel and to hunt shot 30+ rounds they shot terrible 2+ inch group so I bought some win. silver ball. tip 95gr they shot better 1.5 group. So I thought what can I expect for $250. But know deer season is over and she want to shoot some yotes so yesterday a friend of mine loaded some 55gr nosler ball. tip bullets. He had 3 different loads 6 each they shot at best 1.5 group at 100 yd. This is the first H&R rifle I have owned. Please let me know if anyone has a good varmint load suggestion. Thanks.

Welcome aboard ks-shooter! You can expect accuracy to get better with a lot more rounds down the barrel, or you can do some pre break-in by lapping of the barrel at home instead of with bullets. Like Quick said the groups will get better as the barrel gets a few more rounds down it and a good bore lapping will do wonders , these rifles will shoot with the best of the bolt guns , it may take a little work , but it is well worth it .
