What scope are you using on your ML?
« on: December 09, 2006, 05:11:03 PM »
I can't seem to find any threads in this forum specific to what scopes everyone's using on their muzzleoaders.

Might be of interest to get one going.
It may also prove to be helpful to anyone considering the purchase of a muzzleloader.

So.....what scope's on your ML?

None, they're illegal here during ML seasons. :'(

Knight Disc Extreme 50 - Burris Fullfield II 3-9X40 w. Ballistic Plex
Knight Disc Extreme 45 - Bushnell 3200 2-7X32
Knight Hawkeye - Burris Handgun Scope 2X

I've got an Omega for which I'm planning on buying a Leupold VX-1 3-9X40 with the LR Duplex reticle (similar to Burris Ballistic Plex).

My Knight DISC 50cal. had a Weaver 2.5  on it this season.Harvested a spike buck opening day.I'll be putting a Leupold VariXII 1-4X20 on it for next season. The 2.5 Weaver was fine for hunting but I need a little more power at the range for 100+yard shots.

I thought I was the only one to own one of these scopes? Now, I'm considering a Nikon Omega to replace it?

Knight LK-93 .50 has a Simmons 8 point 4x32.  I would like to upgrade the scope but I'm thinking on getting a new frontstuffer so I'll leave the Knight as is to use for woods hunting.

I've had it for years. It's been on two different rifles. You had problems with yours?

I have the Nikon Omega 250 BDC scope on my Pro-hunter Encore and I think it is the best scope for the muzzleloader's.  I am making 200 yard shot with great accuracy.

I've been using a Sightron SII 3X9X42. It has been a good scope. Last week I went to the range and it was shooting off to the left @ 100yds. about 2 1/2 inches. I tried to adjust it and it wouldn't move the point of impact. I sent it in Thursday, for repair or replacement. I have friends that are shooting the cheaper  Sightron SI 3X9X40MD scopes and have no trouble with them at all. I really like MD scopes,as opposed to ballistic plexes. Most are set up for a single bullet, powder, velocity load. With mil dots you can shoot any combination of bullet powder, and speed you want. It's much more flexable, plus you can use the mil dots on the horizontal cross hair for windage. Plus it is a great range finder, and pretty accurate too! ;)!

I've got a Burris FFII BP 3x9 on my Super 91. Nice scope. I've not had a chance to try the BP yet. But hey, it's there. I had a chance to hang on the deer stand looking south down a pipeline yesterday. I styed until 5:30 pm in central Mississippi. Sunset was 4:48 as far as the tables say. I know it was dark. I could see thuorgh the scope out to 150 yards and read print on a pipeline sign up to 5:15. I could have counted points on a buck. But that didn't happen. The buck didn't show!!! :P

Omega  50 cal. topped with a Bushnell 3200 Elite w/ Firefly option.(That is a luminescent reticle that gives you about 20 to 30 minutes at dawn or dusk after you shine a flashlight into the scope for appx. 2-3 minutes)
Have been very satisfied.
Groups in the 1 to 1.5 " range at 100 yards.
Reliable.
Took 2 nice deer with it so far, both over 110 yards and the 6 pointer was moving at a trot- good field of view , easy to pick up game through the scope.

My Remington 700ML has a 2-7 leupold VXII with leupold QD bases.  Just flip the levers and pull the scope and I can hunt where scopes aren't allowed.  The scope has never changed zero after being removed and re-installed.  (I do check zero everytime just in case)
