Sent my Handi off today
« on: December 12, 2006, 11:22:40 AM »
Well, I purchased the 45-70 BC last week and shipped it off to H&R today to be fitted with a .357 mag. barrel. How long does it take on average?

Time can vary from 2 weeks plus shipping to 8 or 9 weeks if they're busy or out of the barrel when they get to your order. Plus they're gonna be shut down from Christmas thru New Years which will add a week all by itself. :(

Yes, now the wait begins......it can seem much longer than it really is, waiting for the return of new barrels and your frame, specially if it's the only frame a fella has, I can remember very well what that was like!!

I sent one off on 2 Nov to be fitted for a 357 also.  Last time I checked, the lady said maybe this week.

I'll probably put a scope on the .357 barrel. My Daughter's Handi has one and it is a tack driver. She let me use hers a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with it. That's how I got lured into the Handi world. I came on here asking for advice on what caliber to use in her first rifle. I bought her the .357 and last week I bought myself the Buffalo Classic, 45-70 and ordered my .357 barrel yesterday. This is a real sickness isn't it? ;D I'm really not into target shooting mostly hunting so I'm already thinking about some mods to the B.C. ;)

I called back again today to check on mine, and the lady said they were currently working on units received in late October.  They received mine on 6 Nov, current predictions now is after the first of the year.  This was supposed to be CHRISTmas present for the grand daughter.  So much for that idea.

Its anybodies guess how long it will take, my longest wait was 6 months and my shortest turnaround was 10 days.  The long one though was because they didn't have the barrel I wanted in stock, they told me it would be several months before they had them, and I just told them to hang onto the reciever until they got it so I went into that one knowing it was going to be a while.
