New Guy
« on: December 13, 2006, 10:53:13 AM »
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum, but not to Handi Rifles.  I did just purchase a new one in 500 S&W.  This will replace my older one which they would only put 6 different barrels on.  I intend to add many different barrels to this new one.  I am getting rid of some other types of rifles I own and replacing them with handi barrels.
I see there is a lot of talk about calibers that people would like to see made.  One that I would love to have that I don't think was mentioned is a 6mm Remington.  I have owned 2 other rifles in this caliber and loved them.  I like it better than the .243..........

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Are there any barrels I should stay away from?  I read on here that the 44 mag barrels are not accurate.  I have a marlin lever action in 44 mag that I will keep instead of getting a handi rifle barrel in that caliber.  Any others with chronic problems?

Has anyone come across any type of case or storage device for the individual barrels?

I used to keep 4 barrels in a double rifle case, 3 of em are now on their own frame now, tho. The Cabela's Encore case carries a rifle and an extra barrel.

Thanks for the congrats Quick, but I am but a candle to your spotlight!!

Fred we are not conceited, we are just a great bunch of Handiholics!!

krod47nw, your correct on the .44 Mag barrels, also most shy away from the superlight barrels although some here say they are OK. I think they may be OK for hunting but not for a long session at the bench, they heat up and move too much. As far as barrel storage goes H&R used to make a carrying case for a reciever and 2 barrels and they may still have them on thier website store. Other than that I just stand my extra barrels on end on the gun rack, but I am on a quest to get a reciever mated to every barrel I have, I still need 3 or 4 more rifle (SB2) recievers, the problem is I buy more barrels than recievers so I am always looking!!!....<><.... :)

I guess with your symptoms, we should be saying.....Welcome Home.. ??? ;D
Your right with the 44's NEF/H&R doesn't seem to care that the bore diameter is off so much. Makes for a struggle for the 44Mag lovers wanting to work up a load without using cast bullets.

Krod.
You might try Uncle Mike's takedown shotgun case, will hold a couple of scoped barrels
