TC Pro-Hunter or Encore, what would you choose ??
« on: October 12, 2006, 06:42:34 AM »
I had an Encore a couple years ago and no longer have it.  I am going to buy one again and can't decide between the Pro-Hunter or the original Encore.

If you had to choose, which one would you pick and why ??

Any comments good or bad will help my decision.

Thanks in advance !

Mike

Well if you got rid of the Encore to start with, I would buy the Pro hunter Encore then. ;)

I would go with the pro-hunter. I have both and I find the pro-hunter a nicer set up. Both shoot very well for me, but the added features of the Pre-hunter make it a better choice in my opinion.

Does anyone know if the swing hammer will be available to retrofit an Encore?  I have an hammer extension that has caused mis-fires.

You will need to send it to T/C and have them do the switch.

I just went thru this and went with the standard Encore.  My only reason was that I did not like the quick release breech plug set up.  had a hard time dealing with the very thin barrrel at the breech.  I fall alot in the woods and was afraid of bending the barrel.  probably a stupid reason but that was me.  Fluted barrel looks cool but has no effect on a ML barrel.  Stock is cool but I have heard of the Pro HNTR stocks cracking.  hammer was cool thoiugh but now that TC ofers a conversion I can do that if I want.

The fluted barrel helps cut down on the weight. The gun balances very well, and is an easy carry gun. I haven't heard of any stock failures,I've shot a lot of 120gr. loads through mine so far,and no problems. ;)

I have never heard of stock failures. I have the regular Encore and love it, but I would get the new ProHunter for the added features. They say the breach is difficult at first but once you get the hang of it it is wounderful.

www.tcarms.com  they have a notice to send in your encore frame (frame only) for $69.95 to get the old hammer replaced with the new swing hammer that the Pro Hunter Encore has.

The Pro-hunter muzzleloader barrel will fit on a standard Encore frame.  Anything you can put on a prohunter you can put on an Encore.
