I shot a doe the first morning of the IL muzzleloader season with my Omega and a 300 grain bonded Shockwave in front of two Pyrodex pellets. The doe came out about 80 yards away ,while my partner was making a one man push through a draw, and stopped in the middle of a picked bean field. She didn't even see me becasue she was looking towards the direction she came from and I shot from one knee. I have shot two deer with shotgun slugs and one other doe with a different muzzleloader and bullet but this is the first time I heard the bullet strike the deer. It was quite a thump. The doe was standing, slightly quartered towards me, and I hit a little further back than I would have liked but the bullet made a clean pass through and I found her piled up about 60 yards inside the timber where she fled. The exit hole almost looked as if three of the same bullets had exited touching one another. I actually found the blue polymer tip from the bullet while boning out the deer.
