I did not start that way as I had a friend that was an accomplished reloader that hit some hard times and sold me his whole set up.  However, I think the Lee Kit is a good way to painlessly get started.  Then as your knowledge and skills grow, you can upgrade and add on.
Before committing, you might want to go to Ebay and buy an outdated reloading book (or two) and read up on things.  The basics of reloading doesn't change that much.

Buy the RCBS Partner kit for just a few more $$$ than the LEE Aniversery. You'll get "quality" equipment, and you definately won't regret it.

I started with the Lee Anniversary kit but quickly moved up to the 4 hole Turrent press.  Been happy since.

I say buy the best you can afford...If it's in the Lee line...then get their cast iron o-press...If you want more..go with the Lyman Turret..or the Redding T-7 Turret...It cost more...but is more usufull in the long run..and will make your reloading easier...and hold up for a lifetime of use with out springing..Yes...a good scale is essential for any reloaders bench...Buy a good one...either digital or beam...well worth the extra you'll spend over the cheaper varieties on the market..

I started with a 3 hole Lee turret press 25+ years ago and now i find that i use the little C press for most of my rifle ammo these days , i tend to get more consistacy with it . maybe i'm just getting to picky in my old age .

But for handgun ammo the turret does all the work .

Buy a Rockchucker.  New or used.  And be happy for the rest of your life.

im not a big lee fan. Some of there stuff is ok but some like there progressives are junk. I do recomend to many people that want to start reloading to buy the aniversary set up. Its got everything you need to start reloading and for not much more then the price of a couple boxes of ammo. The press is servicable and your not out much if after you try it and find you dont care to reload. If you do upgrade most of the stuff in the package is good for backup equipment.

Lloyd Smale is right. Unless you are well off go with the aniversary set to start with. All of it works. I have one. I keep threatening to replace the scale and the powder measure, but haven't so far because they both work. If you are well off, buy one of the more expensive sets. They are easier to use, but probably don't produce much more accurate ammo.

The Lee Anniversary kit w/manual is out of stock until the end of the month at Midway, if you're anxious to get one, Midsouth has it for just a bit more money with less shipping, you'd be buying from a GBO sponsor which never hurts, it would make a nice Christmas gift to put under the tree from Santa!!  ;D

I bought the Rock Chucker about 10 years ago.  Wouldn't switch.  Love it.
