Is anyone loading the Barnes Triple Shock X in their 458wm at 2200fps?
What weight and what brand of powder are you using?

GEMSBUCK,

I have settled on that load for my .458 Win.  I use 72 grns. of H4895, over a Fed. 215 primer.  This load gives me an average of 2225 fps. out of my 25" barrel.

On caveat I should mention is that the throat of my CZ is rather long, which allows me to seat that bullet out, and crimp in the second groove.  This mostly does away with any powder compression.  This will undoubtedly differ with other rifles.  I have used up to 73 grns. of that same powder, which gave me 2280 fps., but flattened primers, and noticably more recoil were the result.  I would caution to work up to this load gradually in your rifle.

This Hodgdon powder is one of their "Extreme" powders, which are supposedly temperature insensitive.  It burns clean, and gives me outstanding accuracy.  That all copper bullet does foul my bore quite a bit, but the foaming bore cleaners, Knock Out in my case, makes quick work of cleaning it out.

Best of luck with your .458! :) :) :)
