.223 Question
« on: December 20, 2006, 07:50:33 AM »
I would like for my next Handi to be in .223. My question is: Which barrel configuration seems to have the most accuracy potential?  It looks like they have a heavy barrel on the Ultra, a fluted barrel on the Varmint and a slim barrel on the others.  Thanks, and a Merry Christmas to all.

It's been talked about recently. See here:

No problem. Like has been mentioned, most 223's are very accurate be it Bull Barrel or Standard Contour. With the edge given to the Bull Barrel configs in most cases.
Seems like the only ones to that have had a track record are the Super Light barrels. Though I have yet to own one of those so I can't speak from experiance about them.
Good choice on the 223, pick which one you like and enjoy :)

I can only speak for the ultra but it is very accurate.
I've shot 1/4 center to center groups at 100 and 4x3 in groups at 300 yards.
So I'm not looking back! ;D

The standard contour barrels are very accurate, and lighter to carry if your going to be afield for any lengh of time.
