First day shooting the 629 Mtn Gun...
« on: May 05, 2003, 05:17:09 PM »
I bagged my first paper plates today. Shot half a box of .44 spl Blazers and a few Mags. Supported firing from 50 feet. Windage was about right, but my sight picture had to be adjusted up from what I am accustomed to with the 8 3/8" 629. BUT...my last cylinder-full, I shot 3 in a row nearly on top of each other and the other 3 were within an inch and a half of the big 3-hole.  I really had to settle down as I hadn't shot a 4" 629 before and I didn't know what to expect recoil-wise, and so I was a little jumpy. The Mags thumped pretty hard, but not as bad as I expected, and the Specials were quite fun. All the Smiths I have fired (not that many mind you), really have sweet single-action trigger pull.

I have a Mag-Na-Ported 625 Mountain Gun in 45 Colt - one of my favorites!
