You know you have won an argument, when your opponent resorts to insults.

I thought it was, that I thought I was conversing with a brick!  ::)

I have a lot of respect for the police and think its a tough job and requires a certain type of individual to handle the stress.
I have never had a bad encounter with an officer so always treat them with respect and they have always treated me the same way.

I have always given the police lots of respect, and only ran into a couple of bad apples in all my years. I just stayed calm and firm, and let them know what the laws are. (faces may turn red on reading them the laws, but that's their problem)
For the most part, most police officers are nice guys on a tough job, there will always be a few bad apples out there, but you can deal with them the smart way.
There are bad apples in every part of life, factories, offices, Congress, police forces...you name it.  But that can't be helped and I will always give the police the respect they deserve first off.

I happy to see law enforcement officers most of the time, except on two occasions in Massachusetts, the State police. We were lost near Logan airport and asked directions of the state police officers and were treated so rudely it was actually insulting. We will never forget this. I am pro police, middle of the road, law abiding, normal looking guy, I still do not understand.

My teenage son is a senior in high school.  All his buddies tease him about his driving, they claim he drives like an old grandma.  One day I asked him about this.  His reply was that the worst thing I ever did was give him his bright yellow chevy S-10, ZR-2, pickup.  This little truck came from the factory jacked up, with 31X10.50X15 tires on custom wheels.  Duel exhaust, and a V-6 engine.  That the local police are constantly harrassing him.  He does not dare speed, run a stop sign, or do anything to draw attention to his driving.  Sky has always been an extreamely safe and contintious driver.  He has never gotten a ticket.  I did not think much about it at the time, thinking he was exagerating.

A few weeks ago my wife went to DC for some training with her job.  When she left my son started driving his mothers SUV.  I asked him why, he said he was tired of police harrassment.  So I decided to drive his truck while mine was in the shop.  I got stopped five times in two days.  Just to check my license and registration.  I also noticed that I was constantly being followed by cops in North Pole and in Fairbanks.  Then one night I drove to the grocery store, I ran out to the back of the parking lot and whipped a brody in the snow, (everybody always does that in the empty back of the parking lot) instantly North Pole police came from behind the car wash with lights flashing, and siren blasting wierd noises.  The cop drove up next to the drivers door with his window down.  As I started lowering my window, the cop yelled "finally got you, you little son of a -----".  Then he saw an old gray bearded and haired fat man.  The cop yelled "Da-", and drove off. I've offered to trade trucks with my son, he's thinking about it.  But the respect I had for our local law enforcement officials just went down a bunch.  I also informed the mayor of North Pole about the harrassment.

But I do like the attention I get from all the ladies (both young and older) when driving his truck.  It's funny to watch a couple of young girls drive hard to pull up along side the truck to see what the driver looks like.  Then the look on their faces when the see gray hair and a long white beard.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
