Contender G2 50 cal
« on: December 20, 2006, 03:35:39 AM »
Hello,

Buying a new ml and trying to research everything. There isn't much out there in reviews on the G2. I'm convinced of the quality of the Encores and Omegas but what about the G2 ml. I'm drawn to the smaller size of the G2. I hunt thick cover and don't care for ten pound scoped rifles. What is your experience with the G2 muzzleloaders? Thanks and God Bless.

I would say the only advantage is weight and compact.

The weight is a big advantage. Suddenly, I want a G2, even though I prefer the original Contender.

While I LOVE my Encore muzzleloader, I do get tired of carrying it.

I have both the G2 in 45 and 50, Encore SS in 50 AND 45. I enjoy the G2 for the woods and hunting. I took both this year packing the encore was like a block when the day was done. the G2 is lighter and jst a accurate but at the end of the day it was not bad.  I have the T/C Bug bad. One is not enough!
The only thing I have found the Encore has over the G2 is the crud ring. I Notice it alot more in the 45cal over the 50s, My 45 in Encore does the same thing. But watching the Guys with Bernellie and thier 1100s with Sabots Fall 50+ yads short @ 250 yds is PRICELESS.
