Disassembly/assembly of L.C. Smith SxS 12ga. Field Grade

I recently had a L.C. Smith 12ga. Field grade SxS choked skt/skt. follow me home. It was probably made around 1930 according to serial no. research and the stock was repaired(nicely done) reciever may have been re-cased,not sure. Anyway the gun is a fine looking shotgun that I think I got for a fair price. I would like to take it apart to inspect the parts and give it a good cleaning/re-lube. I do this with all the strays that follow me home. I have taken other SxS guns apart for this purpose with no problem, this one seems a little different.(want to avoid aggravation) Any leads on exploded assemblies or assembly instructions would be appreciated. Thanks, Walt

The "Elsie" is a true side lock gun. Those are NOT fake side plates, they contain the action of the gun.
Now I have no first hand experience with an LC but generally speaking all side lock guns have one screw that holds the two side plates together. Likely it will be the only one you see showing in the same place on both side plates. Some times it has a regular screw head and other times it will have some type of "handle" on it to unscrew it with. I just don't know which is likely on your gun.
You would normally unscrew it most of the way but with some threads still in the far side plate and push it loose. Then you can remove the screw and take off the other as well. I'm reasonably sure the LC Smith will follow that general convention fairly closely.
