Graybeard Membership Growth!
« on: December 22, 2006, 04:35:44 AM »
Graybeard and Matt,

Since you are comming up on your 10th year anniversary, I was just curious if you have an overall growth chart showing total members for each year? Maybe a monthly total over the last year? I have just been keeping an eye on it for the last 2 or 3 months and noticed it went from 17,000 to over 19,000 in just that short period of time. Just curious that's all, as it looks like there might be a real growth spurt over the last few months. Congratulations for that, you must be doing something right. :)

I've not tried to keep any such records. I'm not sure if Matt has some way to pull such data from the logs and such he has access to or not. He and I do have access to the full list of members and from that I think could figure it but it would mean many hours of work and for sure I'm not gonna put in the amount of time it would take.

What I can tell you for sure is we closed out 2005 with about 14,750 or so members. We've already crossed the 19,100 mark for 2007 and should wind up over 19,200 for sure so we'll add about 4500 this year alone. If the present growth rate continues I expect to close out 2007 with over 25,000 registered members.

In November of 2002 when we changed from the original cascading software that Matt wrote for our use we had to get everyone to register again in order to use the phpbb software. So beginning on Nov. 20, 2002 the current list began. Since then there have been over 19,100 members register.

That's about the best I can do for stats at this time.

Thanks Graybeard! Sounds good.

I think that last 100 only took 2 or 3 days. :)

All I can say is thanks for the hard work GB.  We all may not always see eye to eye, but we all DO SEE how hard you and Matt work giving us the chance to disagree ;D.

Again, thanks
and have a Merry Christmas.

Heck ain't nuttin says we gotta agree all the time, me and Matt don't even agree all the time. We just have to be nice in our disagreements rather than getting ugly with each other. Even I was wrong ONCE, I thought I had made a mistake.  :o

Well put handirifle ! We might add to that by including the moderators. I am not familiar with what all is involved in running a fast growing forum website. I am more familiar with what it takes to make a manufacturing business run successfully and that is "good people." Along with Graybeard, these guys police the different forums keeping things in order. When things start side-tracking away from the real purpose of this site, one of them steps up to the task at hand and handles it professionally. I really appreciate that.

Merry Christmas to all of you fine folks at GBO and to all of it's members.
