This question might get a little complicated.
The background:
I had a conversation last night about scope mounts for my new 673. A friend of mine is a big fan of the Remington Model 600 and Model 660, he has several. When he buys new scope mounts for them, he looks for anything in a 660, 600, 40x or XP100. All of those have the same hole pattern. Sometimes he can't find them listed as available in the 600 or 660 but he can find them for the 40x, and sometimes mounts are listed for the XP100. There is usually a couple of different ways he can find what he is looking for, even though the mounts aren't listed in catalogs specifically for the 600 and 660.
The 673 is loosely based on the 600 and 660. But the 673 is not a 40x action like the 600 and 660 were, the 673 is a Model 7 action.
My question is:
Has the Mount hole pattern changed enough that Mounts made for the 600, 660, 40x or XP100 will not fit, or are Mounts made specifically for the Model 7 the only ones that will fit?
How close is the Model 7 action to the 40x action ? Are they basically the same?
