I noticed my Colt SAA has a tiny "R" stamped on the barrel up near the ejector housing bushing. It is only visible if you take off the ejector housing. The barrel appears to have been set back one thread and it is a tack driver. Does the "R" indicate "Regulated"?
I am not a gunsmith but heard that this is a possible reason for the mark.
