whelen misfires?
« on: December 21, 2006, 05:28:19 AM »
Has onyone tried to see if the Remington guys and others with the .35 have problems with the factory loads?  I can't find a 7600holic sight, or any info.  I have ran across a 30-06 with ejector new at a store and an comsidering it for my wants.  The down side is that I really wanted the Whelen and then came up with:  no more ejectors, questions about the reliability of extractors, and chamber dimensions.  I could save my nickels and get the 06 redone into an A square or .35 later.  The downside is I already have a really nice old Rem. model 30 in 06, complete with peep so would be duplicating.  Since there is a blizzard, the bakcground people are off today,

Ya missed out on an RMEF 35 Whelen with ejector and 26" barrel, but if you pm handi35, it may still be available.

Ken:

I've had some problems with the 35 Whelen ammo & brass...I've called Remington a few times on it..and all I get is they are checking into it >:(...I've only heard of 1 person who's had trouble with their extractor..I haven't had any problems with my extractor barrels...so..I would say if you wanted a 35 Whelen Handi..order it..The pump Remmy's are hard to find..but..if this is what your wanting...Have your dealer call Zanders they are a big distributer that most of the dealers around here use.... http://www.gzanders.com/

I kow this is different from the 7600 and may not even apply. I have a Remington 700 classic deluxe in a 35 Whelen so far what 40 rounds of store bought loads all Remingtons and my reloads not yet a miss fiire or a case problem . Dropped a real nice 6 pointer with it this year.

That's what I was afraid of.  It may be that H & R is either too deep, or a large ream.  Along with going away from ejectors on HUNTING rifles, I have to think over how much I want one.  A 30-06 would do roughly the same thing I want; pointed heavy bullet, low power scope.  Now the 06 I found will probably be gone when I go back and solve the rest of the problem.
