.223 Ultra Under the tree
« on: December 26, 2006, 05:25:12 AM »
Well the addiction is now being fed by my wife.  I had posted about the .223 Ultra that I had found at a gun store which was used.  That rifle had been sold when my wife had gone there to pick it up as a Christmas gift.  Well she decided to do the next best thing and order a new one! ;D.  Now the Mueller will come off of the .44 and the Ultra will have to get a work out.

Hardly ask for a better present. Mine was a Winchester Super Shadow 300WSM which my Honey paid for ( I had it in lay-away)

Wolfgang .... will men ever be able to figure women out?  I mean if you had a drinking problem would she have bought you a bottle of whiskey? I think the answer is noooooooooo ..... You obviously have a problem with the need for more Handi's ... yet, she feeds this problem. Oh well ... I know you will enjoy that rifle as I love mine.

Poncaguy ... I have that same .300wsm.... that should be pleasing to your needs.

My wife spoiled me too.  I got a $250 girft card to the local gun shop.  I'm torn between the .223 Handi bull barrel or the .233 Ultra Varmint.  Time for shopping.

Quick,

While on this .223 topic I noticed that the rifle is of the new extractor type rather than the ejector.  Does this also mean it would carry the newer 1 in 9 twist?

There are two extractor types, the 1st generation had problems, those barrels could be either twist rate, the late extractor type would very likely be 1:9", but I don't know when they developed the late style. My .500 S&W barrel has the late style extractor. The only way to know for sure is to check the twist rate, procedure is in the FAQs under the twist rate info. Pics of underlugs are in the FAQs also as well as a link to a gen 2 extractor in pieces.
