RCBS Chargemaster vs. Lyman DPS
« on: December 20, 2006, 06:36:21 AM »
I'm seriously shopping for one of the two electronic powder measure/dispenser combos. Has anyone used both of them? How do they compare? Is there anything to hate about either of them?

Thanks

I have the Lyman, it works great, but it's a bit slow compared to the RCBS from what I've read, I work around it by using a dipper to throw a charge in the pan that cuts the fill time, or seat the previous bullet while it's filling. If I were buying one now and had read the review, I would have bought the RCBS which is also a little easier to clean. The Lyman costs less, but you can get the RCBS on sale for as little as $250 which is about $50 more than what I paid for the Lyman on sale.

I also have the Lyman. I use it pretty much the same way quickdtoo does. I am very satisfied with it.   KN

I use the new version of the RCBS, it's great, it's reasonably quick and accruacy so far seems to be right on.

I have been using the Chargemaster for over a year now and love it. It only takes seconds to change a load, which make it great for testing out new loads.

I have been using the PACT for a couple of years and am very happy with it.  They used to make RCBS's but not sure if they still do since RCBS has changed styles in the last couple of years.

Pact is running a special until the middle of January, the scale and dispenser for $199.95 with free shipping if ordered directly from them.  That is a bunch less than I paid for mine a few years ago, although I bought the scale and dispenser at different times.
