first try at 44 mag and LBT bullets

I loaded up some 44 mags with cast performance 230 LBT(type) LFN/GC bullets in PMC onnce fired cases, WLP primer, and 19.5 grains of Lil' Gun. They shot O.K. but I'm getting a bit of bullets lube left on the case mouth? Why would that be?

19.5 grains of Lil' Gun is a pretty mild charge for the bullet you are shooting.  Not to question your observations, but are you sure what you are seeing is lube or "blow-by"  from the case not sealing against the cyllinder walls?  Regardless, if it's lube or blow-by and it shoots well, I don't see a problem.

Not sure what causes it, but I have experienced it from 750 fps. 38's to 1300+ fps. 475's, I don't let it bother me as long as they make tiny little groups.  I also agree a little more umph may be needed.  As a side benefit, a little hotter often shoots better in my experience.

I had a little trouble finding data for 320/44mag so I took an educated guess on the powder charge and thats what a 1.3 cc powder dipper drops(laoding on my apartment kitchen table). What do you all use for a 320 and lil' gun?

Whoa!!  Your original post said 230 grains.  Data for that bullet gives you room for quite a bit more powder.  If your post was a typo and you're shooting a 320 grain bullet that changes things drastically.  Try the Hodgdon site, they have the data you want.

little lube on the case mouth is normal especialy if your using harder lubes.

I won't worry about it then and the gun/ammo shot better with 21 grains of Lil' gun too.

If you want the most out of the 44 Mag using that weight bullet, you need to go with WW296 or H110.

Just my opinion.

when I get to it I'll buy some H110 too. I'll also try IMR 4227 for a mid range load.
