I wanted some opinions on the remington core-lokt bullets from some of you guys who have used them on big game.I just bought a new browning BLR in 358 winchester and was planninmg on keeping it simple and cheap. I will be using this rifle for deer and blackbear in NY and my range would be under 100 yds. I am hoping to use the remington 200 grain PSPCL or the SPCL as long as they prove accurate in my rifle. I have found the remington bullets super accurate in  the 30/06 , 308, and 35whelen but have never taken game with the remingtons.Tell me what you think of them Thanks Tanoose

My hunting buddies and I have used them extensively on deer in 308 caliber. Deep penetration and accuracy are the rule. We have never recovered a corelokt bullet from over 20 deer we have processed. Always through and through penetration. They are very economical to buy at Midway. The 200 grain 35 cal are 158 bucks a thousand. I recommend them.

I'll be filling my doe tags with the 200 grain SPCL RN pushed to 2500 fps this week. Maybe a hog or big buck also.

   You have just purchased the single finest Big Game rifle available in America!!!  I'll have to expound more later as the wife is saying something about spending time with her on Christmas Eve.
You should have no trouble sending 250 grain Noslers out at around 2,350 fps, for Griz etc.  With the 200 grain Hornady or Remingtion  bullets you've a dynomite deer, antelope load at 2,550 or a bit more.  For Elk and Moose 225 Barnes Triple-X at 2,475 should be just right.

   For small game up to Coyote etc there are numerous 140 to 200 grain bullet designed for the 357 Magnum revolver that work awesomely when driven at 1,800 to 2,000 fps from your BLR.

I took three deer with the 200 grain round nose corelokt pushed to 2500 fps from my 358 BLR this weekend.  Excellent bullet. Quick drops, complete penetration on all deer and one bullet penetrated 20 inches of deer before it exited. all exit holes around 3/4 of an inch though the holes in rib cages were around 2 inches across. One entrance hole with the bullet hitting a shoulder blade was 2 inches across, that bullet also exited. The longest shot was 50 yards. Some of the damage done at impact points was impressive. I will without reservation reccomend this bullet for deer. Will use it on a feral hog or two this winter along with Hornady's 200 grain spire soft point.
