New Ruger P95

Thanks to all that offered advice for a new 9mm.  I ended up going with the Ruger P95, basically due to ergonomics & the smoothness of the trigger.  I have not yet fired the gun, but have noticed a couple of what appear to be cosmetic issues I'd like to ask about.

1)  The top of the hammer (where you you grab to manually cock it) has a smaller radius on one side than the other.  The result is that when you sight down the gun, the hammer looks crooked (although it's not).  I will probably just take a small file & smooth one side out so it's not as noticeable.

2)  The square back of the firing pin appears to sit crooked in the frame (where the hammer strikes).  I'm sure this is a non-critical dimension, but still wanted to check.

  I'd worry not about both "issues".  Seems more cosmetic than anything.  It's a gun, a tool, not a flashy museum quality Bently.  Worry not and shoot the darn thing.    Also gotta say that while I've never been really taken by the Ruger autos, it's the P95 that is the only one I've ever considered.  You made a good choice.

Thanks for the comments.  I tend to agree, but I thought I'd ask anyway.  The main reason I picked the P95 was ergonomics.  It fits my hand great & the controls were easy for me.  Very simple to field strip too.  The one thing I didn't expect was the smoothness of the SA trigger pull.  Even the fellow at the gun shop was impressed with it.  It should be a fun gun.

Bought a KP-95DC about 15years ago, or there about. Paid $269 at Sports Unlimited. I bought the gun for my wife who has limited hand strength, as she could cycle the slide easily. Never cared much for the looks or the feel, but the gun was reasonably accurate and stone reliable. I used it for years as an IDPA loaner. It digested many thousands of rounds, mostly my reloads, with out a single malfunction. I have since given it to my son who shoots the crap out of it. I can only conclude that the Ruger autos are a heck of a buy  for an entry level auto!

I've had one since they first came out. bought it when they first came out from Jumbo Sports. mine has a couple of blemishes, different from yours, but has never had a malfunction of any kind and will feed anything you put in it. Seems like none of the Ruger semi autos have the best fit and finish, but they all work. I have a P-94 in .40 caliber that is just as reliable. Just enjoy it.

My hammer isn't like that, firing pin like urs but not as much. Mine is very accurate, never has failed to fire ever. For the money, best 9mm auto you can buy and it's made in America.
